Day 01 : Arrive Imphal
Meeting upon arrival and transfer to hotel.
Afternoon visit: Shree Shree Govindajee Temple: This symbolic temple in Imphal adjoining the palace of the former rulers of Manipur, is a historic centre for Vaisnava culture. It is a simple and beautiful structure with gold domes, a paved court and a large, raised congregation hall. The main deity of the Temple is The presiding deity in the centre is flanked by idols of Radha Govinda, Balaram and Krishna on one side and Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra on the other.

 

Khwairamband Bazaar: One of the main attraction of Imphal is the Khwairamband Bazaar. What makes this market different is that it is run by women. Split into two sections on either side of the road, it has tribal women clad in colorful, traditional attire, selling everything from hand-woven shawls, skirts, vessels, mugs and mats to fish, lotus, oranges and orange-flavored honey. And if you wander in the quaint by lanes around the market, you will get a glimpse of Manipur’s customs and traditions.

 

Khonghampat Orchidarium: There is the Khonghampat Orchidarium that has more than a hundred rare varieties of orchids. The best time to visit the orchidarium is in the months of April and May when the orchids are in full bloom. Overnight at hotel.

 

Day 02: Imphal
Morning after breakfast full day excursion around Imphal visiting: Loktak Lake and Sendra Island: Located 48 kms from Imphal this beautiful lake resembles like a miniature inland sea. The government had built a Tourist Bungalow for the comfort of the tourists. From the nearby Sendra island, visitors can get a bird’s eye view of this huge and beautiful stretch of water and the life on it, the fisherman and their families who live in neat huts on its shores and anticipating their watery environment by casting their nets on it, harvesting it for the water chestnut known as Heikak, and even building their houses on the islands of floating weed that dart around the lake.

 

Day 03: Imphal – Kohima (137 Km – 3hrs)
Morning after breakfast proceed to Kohima -Home of the Angami Nagas, the capital of Nagaland and also the second largest village in Asia. On arrival check into hotel. Dinner and Overnight stay at Kohima.

 

Day 04: Kohima – Khonoma
After breakfast visit the local vegetable and fish market and then proceed to an Angami Naga Village – Khonoma village, 20 km / 1 hr, famous for its valour and fiercely independent mindset. Back to Kohima for lunch. Afternoon visit the Kisama Naga model village and the II world War cemetery. Dinner and overnight stay at Kohima.

 

Day 05 :Kohima – Touphema (42 kms/2 hrs)
After breakfast sightseeing of Touphema tourist village. En route visit the state museum (closed on Monday and govt. holidays). Arrival at Touphema check in to Guest House. Afternoon visit ‘Touphema Bawe’ – the old village. Evening witness traditional presentation from the local villagers. Overnight stay at Touphema.

 

Day 06 : Touphema – Mokokchung (120 kms/5 hrs)
After breakfast drive to Mokokchung. En route visit through villages of the Rengma tribes at Tsemenyiu On arrival check into the tourist Lodge. Overnight stay at Mokokchung.

 

Day 07 : Mokokchung – Mon (260 kms/9 hrs)

After breakfast drive to Mon, home of the famous “Konyak” Nagas through lush green valleys of the tea-estates of Assam. “Konyak” are seen by everyone as the most backward of the sixteen Naga tribes. This is the most traditional tribe. Overnight stay at Mokokchung.

 

DAY-06 :MON – DIMAPUR (290kms/8 hrs)
After breakfast, drive back to Dimapur and rest . If time permits explore the local haat/market of Dimapur. Overnight in Dimapur.

Day 09: Departure -Dimapur
Transfer to Dimapur Railway Station/Airport for your return/ onward journey.

The Hornbill Festival Nagaland – Kohima – 5 Nights / 6 Days

 

Day 01:On this day, enjoy the colourful Hornbill Festival. Overnight at Kohima.

Day 02: This morning visit the vibrant Hornbill Festival. Post lunch explore the village of Kigwema. Overnight at Kohima.

Day 03: Rediscover the secrets of Kohima city and then proceed for an escorted village excursion of the wonderful village of Khonoma. Overnight at Kohima.

Day 04 This morning visit the pulsating Hornbill Festival; reconnoitre the village of Jhakama. Overnight at Kohima.

Day 05:Today you bid Farewell to the Land of the Nagas
